It's been so long!

I know it's been awhile since I've been here, but We have been so darn busy. First we had Scott's family reunion a week ago that was fun got to meet his whole family they were all very nice. Then my 10 year H.S. Reunion which was crazy, not too many people showed up but Jenny and I had fun anyway as you can see in our picture. This last Sunday July 29th Scott and I volunteered at the Oregon Brewer's Festival that was really fun. We poured beer for hundreds (no probably thousands) of people downtown on the waterfront. I have been to it a couple times but I had never volunteered. Next year I don't know if I'll do that again because by the time our shift was over most of the beers were tapped out so we only got 1 beer which was something we could have gotten at the store, but it was a fun experience. Yesterday we went and looked at Bridal Veil where I really want to get married. I've been to a wedding there about 4 years ago and it's so much prettier there than I remember it being. It's a small lake surrounded by every flower imaginable. It also has an awesome view of the river down below. When you book with them they also include 4 canoes so you can go out on the lake for a cruise, they make for the coolest pictures. Friday we have an appointment with Edgefield, I really have my heart set on Bridal Veil but I told Scott I would keep an open mind, so we'll see how that goes.

The fireworks were all around!

I wish I had some pictures of our fourth of July but I forgot to charge my camera. We went to a friends house that's about 3 blocks from our apt. we're kinda up on a hill so we could see all the fireworks from everywhere. It felt like it lasted at least 1 1/2 hours, I couldn't even count how many shows were going on. The horizon was exploding with colorful sparkles, and the sound was crazy. After it slowed down we all gathered on the lawn and lit off our own, some even legal. It was a really fun night. Hope everyone had a great 4th too!

Can't wait for fireworks!!!

Happy 4th of July everyone! Scott and I just got back from a BBQ at my mom's house, and it is super HOT out!!! Now we're on our way to work. It probably won't be busy at all since everyone will be out to see all the fireworks (Lucky).
I just wanted to put up a short post and wish everyone a great holiday and show this cute little monster I made for my little sisters birthday (which was a while back, to say the least I'm never on time). I was totally inspired by all the books and blogs where people recycle their old sweaters into something cute and useful. I only had to sew the top and bottom, totally easy.

I couple weeks ago I was at work, and we were so slow that I started folding the advertisings in the Sunday paper. I eventually rolled them all up on each other, and it started to take shape of a bowl. Then I thought if I could make it big enough it could actually turn into something. Maybe I could put a protective coating on it and use it. Maybe......................we'll have to see when and If it actually ever gets finished.

Birthdays everywhere!

So I'm finally posting the birthday present I made for my mom last week. It's a set of 2 tea towels or big napkins however she wants to use them. I also drew the image for her card. It was my first time printing cards and I think it turned out well, at least for the first time. I wish I could have made the lines better in illustrator but I hadn't figured that out yet at that time.
The cupcake design is a transfer I got from the Sublime Stitching book and then I freehanded all the lettering. The cute little bird design I got from a great blog I recently discovered called Floresita things I've made. I just printed out a copy in black and white and drew the outline on to the towel, then I used the colored picture for color and stitch placement inspiration. I really love the bird it's such a lovely design, she does really great work. Now I have so many more gifts and cards to make for August since basically everyone else in my family has birthdays in this month, I think there's about 6. I'm the biggest procrastinator too, so I better get started now if I want to be ready in time.

The great outdoors

We have defiantly been the Oregonian outdoorsy types around here as of late. We go hiking on our days off, hiking when we have to work that night, BBQing, and even relaxing on a patio overlooking the Willamette river enjoying happy hour. Life is pretty good this summer so far. We have been all over town trying to find new and fun ways to be outside. Mt. Tabor last week was interesting to say the least. We were about to start our hike when we heard "excuse me, watch out" and when we turned around we saw about a hundred bikers all dressed up in costumes whirling by. That was fun to watch. Yesterday we discovered Powell Butte and hiked all over that place. You could get lost there it's so big, and it has an amazing view.

This was our view from a bar in Vancouver Wa. on the Columbia river where Scott, my sister, and I were having a few drinks. Sailing looks like so much fun doesn't it?
My moms birthday is this Thursday so I've been busy making her present. I really want to post it right now but then she would probably see it so I had better wait. After I give it to her it will be immediately posted.
We're still trying to find the perfect place to get married at, I didn't think it would be this hard. All the places I like don't have everything we need, I wish I could just squish them together and be done with it.
Well today is my stepmothers birthday so I better call her, hope it's not dinner time.

The dress!

I found it! This is the perfect dress. I've been going through all my old magazines so that I can get rid of some, and look what I found. This was in the Martha Stewart Winter Weddings Mag. It's by Reem Acra but I can't find it anywhere. Maybe I can have something similar made. I love it because it's so pretty but not a traditional wedding dress. It has a total Alice in Wonderland feel to it, which matches my theme perfectly.
