apartment shmartment.......Arggg!!!

I have never been so frustrated trying to get into an apartment as I have been theses past few weeks. Scott and I are trying to get into this place in Happy Valley that my mom said are the best she found when she went out looking for us. Well..... it has not been fun. First they had to fax over the applications and when we got them you couldn't read a thing on them, so my mom had to read the questions to me over the phone and we filled them out. Then they told us we had to have guaranteed jobs. My boss called the Outback in Portland and the mgr. there said I would be able to transfer but when the apartment called to check he told them something different. Ok whatever, so then Friday the owner called and now I'm guaranteed a job, But Scott doesn't. They told us we either had to have jobs or $7500 in the bank. All they have to do is look at my credit and rental history, I have never payed rent late and I always pay my bills on time. Plus I have have worked for the same company for 9 1/2 years and we pay 3 times the rent now then they charge there. Do I really seem like someone that will rent an apartment and not pay for it? I don't want to ruin my credit. I understand they have to cover their on butts, but seriously, I have never had this problem, even when I was 19 getting my very first place. Ok, I'm done, I had to get it out. I'm sure everything will work out in the end it always does. Now on to a more exciting topic. Aren't these shoes amazing? There the Poetic Licence 'Check Mate' Flat and their available at Nordstrom's for only $64.95. I think I just found what I'm going to spend my Nordy's gift card that my dad bought me 2 Christmas's ago on. I have so much green in my wardrobe so these will fit in perfectly. I really do love a good flat.

And look at these........very nice right? I found these shoes via meesh . You can find them at
Le Train Bleu and to my happy surprise is located in Portland, very cool huh? I'm defiantly going to visit this store when I get there.
Today I went to loehman's and found some very cool stuff. I had never been there and had been planning on going to the Nordstrom Rack today but a friend told me about this place. I finally found a good pair of (Joe's) jeans that I have been in desperate need of and they were $100 cheaper then normal. Of course the closest one to Portland is about 3 hours away in Bellvue Wa. so I guess it will become a stop at the frequent Seattle trips we will soon be having.

Ok this is kinda off the subject but I found these cute little birds at Ann Wood Handmade and thought they were so adorable I just had to post them.

Carlsbad flower fields

We finally made it to the flower fields today and it was spectacular! We've lived less than a mile away from this 50 acre ranunculus field for almost 3 years now. I'm so happy I got to see it and take some pictures. It was the most gorgeous day out. In the picture you can see all the ladies wearing their purple outfits and red hats, they were all over the place.

The colors are amazing, and it makes it so much better that it overlooks the Pacific Ocean.

Spring really is my favorite season. The flowers are blooming everywhere. There are tiny hot pink flowers blanketing the sides of the I-5 right now, it looks like someone laid hot pink carpet down. Byrd's of Paradise are blooming at every intersection corner, lilies and roses are in everyone's yards.

I feel so lucky to have had the chance to get away from home and live somewhere else for a while and especially in Southern California. I've had so much fun while I've lived here and meet so many people. I have to admit that I'm really getting sad to leave now. When we still had a few months it was "I can't wait to leave and get back home" but now that there's only 3 weeks left it has hit hard that it's almost over and a new chapter is about to begin. I'm excited about this new chapter but still sad to close this one.
Above the flower fields are The Grand Pacific Palisades Resort. Scott use to work at the Karl Strauss Brewery right next door, what an awesome view they have.

bunnies & eggs everywhere

Here's the little bunny I made last night while watching a Van Wilder movie. It turned cute but not to my liking, the pom-poms where hard to get just right so that the bead eyes wouldn't sink into the head too far. Trial and error is the key I guess. Anyways It's still super adorable for the first one. I need to find some little flowers or something for her to hold in her arms.
These are the eggs I made with the wool roving. I love the colors, I'm thinking about getting some undyed wool and dying it myself. I hear kool-aid produces nice pastel colors.
Here's what the roving looks like after it's dyed. I got mine on ebay, it came with about 10 colors. It's so much fun to work with and my brain has been going crazy trying to come up with new ideas. I guess I'm way behind on this craft material and everyones been using it forever but whatever it's new to me and i like it.

Easter's on it's way

I love all the Easter pastels. I'm not usually a pastel person but I've gotten in the holiday spirit! I've gotten inspired recently with all the easter crafts, I have felted Styrofoam eggs which I'll post later, and I'm going to attempt to make these cute little pom-pom bunnies I saw on the Martha Stewart show. I want to make a whole bunch of little creatures for my little brother and sister so I can give them a little present when I see them next month. next I'll try and felt some easter Chicks. I just recently got some wool roving and I'm hooked, you can make so much stuff with it. Soon I'll have all my crafts posted (hopefully) so everyone can see all the crafty goodness.
We're going out for a birthday dinner with some of our good friends tonight to P.F. Chang's. I love the their duck so I'm super excited.
I drew this little drawing for the husband of the birthday girl's band Parker Theory he wanted a little cartoon for his website or myspace not sure which so we'll see how he likes it. Scott did their website and it turned out really awesome.

for a friend

I made these peridot earrings for a friend who wants to surprise his fiance with a pretty gift. He heard that I made jewelry from another friend, after I made a necklace and earrings for him to give his girlfriend for Valentine's day. So the word is slowly getting out there, it's exciting.
I'm really happy with the way they turned out, he said he wanted chunky and dangly and this is what I came up with. Peridot is a lot more expensive than I had thought so I bought these cute little beads and tried to translate them to chunky by clustering them all together. I think these might be my favorite that I have made so far and I really hope he likes them or they might end up in the shop which is fine to. They could easily go from casual to formal and adapt to any outfit. Their vibrant green color is absolutely gorgeous for spring.

Spring has sprung!

My favorite time of year is SPRING, it's so beautiful with all the flowers popping up everywhere. This year I'm defiantly going to make it to the Carlsbad flower fields. Every year I drive by and am amazed at how gorgeous it is, rows and rows of ranunculus all separated into colors. I just can't believe I have lived here for almost five years and haven't been there yet. This month I'm trying to cram everything I haven't done in the years I've been here into a a short time frame. I don't want to get to Oregon and have any regrets because I never went to Sea World when I had the chance. That doesn't mean I'm not super excited to get outta here. Every Wednesday-Sunday I drive north on I-5 and just when I'm about to turn off on my exit I always think "What if I just kept driving north?" Oh I can't wait for that day that I can just keep driving.Chefography is back on the Food Network. Last time they showcased Ina, Giada, Emeril, and Paula. I love Barefoot Contessa and Everyday Italian, they are probably the shows I watch the most besides anything Alton Brown my fav. because he's so funny, but I have to tell you I was watching Sandra Lees last night and WOW she is awesome. I have to admit Semi-Homemade is not a show I watch that often, and only really when there's nothing on, I have never tried to cook with one of her recipes because it's not really the cooking I like to do . After watching her "chefography" I really wanted to watch Semi-Homemade I feel like I have a better understanding of where she's coming from and it makes sense. A lot of bad things happened to her when so was young and she's just so amazing now. I am now a fan and will be watching her shows for all the wonderful "tablescapes" she always does at the end of the show. I love these shows, it makes the people seem more real somehow, not just the perfect cooks you see on TV. It allows you to see their process and how they think.
I watched Nigella Lawson's next and I have always loved her show and was really excited last year when she got a show on the food Network. She grew up in one of the most important and powerful families in London. It was a funny coincidence going from Sandra to Nigella, they had such different backgrounds and upbringings. Nigella was a journalist who loved to cook and was stricken with the deaths of her mother, sister, and husband from cancer. It was such a tragic story and nothing of what I would have imagined her life to be before the Food Network.
Today hopefully I'll get around to watching Tyler Florence and Mario Batali, I don't really know anything about them and don't often watch their shows but I'm very interested to find out.
