Tim Burton...I LOVE YOU!

My dreams have come true. There will be a new Alice and Wonderland movie coming 2010 and Tim Burton is directing. Can you believe it? With Tim Burton directing you know it's going to be good. 2010...so far away, hurry up and get here already!!!

I like big butts...

This is the greatest picture! Not sure where I found it, it's been in a file for awhile. It looks like it might be from a wedding and this lady came to get down.
I've been wanting to get back into taking more pictures , it just seems like there's not enough time in the day. Scott and I got a new camera when we got married and we absolutely love it. It's a canon power shot SD1100 is elph and it takes super awesome pics.
We found a great little rental house just down the street from us and we'll find out if it's ours tomorrow or Tuesday. It's perfect except no yard or fireplace, but what can ya do? We finally won't here our noisy neighbors pounding around upstairs.
well got watch the Charger game and drink some beer. Happy Sunday all!

It has been too long...

Welcome to Fall...I can't believe it's here and I have to admit I'm kinda happy about it. Don't get me wrong I do love Summer but there's something about the cool crisp weather and back to school that's very intriguing!
Do you love Gossip Girl? I do! While I was looking over the E.L.F blog they featured the show and said that the Waldorf line is actually Lorick. I want this dress! even if you don't like the show you have to admit the clothes are wonderful.
I was just recently informed by a friend that the E.L.F cosmetic line was bought by Nordstrom and everything is on sale for$1 so they can repackage. I just about bought everything. Also if you put the code CAROLINA in at checkout you get an extra $7.50 off if you buy $15. what a deal, I don't know how long this will last so get shopping.
Since school has started back up I've been sooooo busy (I'm taking a full load and working). But I have missed the blog and reading all the other great ones I like to keep up on. I'm going to try and post once a week so don't forget about me. Love ya!

Happy Cinco De Mayo

Hope everyone gets a margarita or nice cold sol to drink today. It's been so long since I was on here last. I started back at school last month and it's been keeping me very busy. I mean all I do is work and school. I better get a good nursing job after all this.
My dress is done for the wedding and it looks absolutely perfect! Thanks mom. I can't believe it's a little over 2 months away, time has just flown by. Also it's been a year in Portland, I just got my Oregon plates last week. They say your suppose to get them within the first month but I just registered in California right before moving so I was stretching it a little, ok a lot.
The weather here in Portland has been gorgeous the past couple days and we were lucky enough to have the days off. We spent all day yesterday at McMenamins Edgefield drinking and hanging out with some good friends and family.
I'm gonna try and be a little for regular with the posting, I'll try for once a week but we'll see how it goes. Have a wonderful holiday and enjoy the weather!

D is for Daffodills....................

These flowers are so cheerful and are brightening up our apartment perfectly. These were my sisters favorite flowers and when I saw them at our local safeway I had to snag a couple bunches.
Mine are starting to wilt, so I guess it's time to go back to the store.

Today I registered for my Spring Term classes and I'm excited to go back to school. It's been a couple terms since I've taken any classes. Last week I took my placement test and scored higher than I was expecting to, that was a huge relief. I'm switching my major to Nursing from Graphic Design, it's a little scary but I'm super excited to start learning something I've never studied before. I'm going full time with a full load and one of my classes is math, ew that's scary. So as of now I'll be able to apply to nursing school Fall of '09. It seems pretty far away now but I'm sure it'll sneak up quick.

It has been awhile.......

This has defiantly been a year, and I'm truly happy for 2008 to be here. I haven't been wanting to blog lately, but I've decided to get back into it. The Holidays are over and I have a chance to start anew. Although me starting anew is without my dear sister Sydney who died this last November right before Thanksgiving and It's been the hardest thing to deal with in my life, but I feel it's a chance to really evaluate what's really important in your life and hold on to it.
This is going to be a good year I can feel it, a year of change. I'm going to make the most of everyday and have no regrets. So 2008 I welcome you, here I come, it's gonna be great!!!

I need shoes!!!

If money was no object I would be buying these beauties. Their Tory Burch but they must be older because there not on the website. Their about $90 which is probably way less than they were originally. I'm not into gold too much but it's the holidays which practically screams for this color. Oooh and come to think of it, these would be perfect with my wedding dress. Hummm, maybe I'll go see when the bidding ends.

beautiful bouquets

I haven't put much thought into the bouquet so far but I think these look really nice.

Ooooh I can't decide, I like them all! This is going to be tough.

My mother and I went fabric shopping today for my wedding dress and I think we found just the right pattern and material. It's going to be fabulous!!!

color, color, color

I love, love this simple and I'm assuming very inexpensive centerpiece for an outdoor summer wedding . Stella Alesi Photography

This gorgeous picture is from blogger Heather Bailey her husband is a photographer but I think she's pretty good also. The little yellow flowers are so adorable. I'm not sure the real name of these but when we were at New Seasons awhile ago they were being called "Billy Balls" so that's the name I'm sticking with.
All I can say is WOW! Love the green.

I just want to jump into this picture and twirl around, it's just so magical and fun-tastic!

Lets here it for cake!

Sorry about the lighting on this photo but the light is getting worse for taking good pictures. This is my Devil's food cake I made yesterday, and it was soooo good.
I've never made a cake from scratch before, at least that I can remember. It took the better part of an afternoon but defiantly worth it. This would make great cupcakes, the sour cream makes the cake really moist.

Cake for November!

I found this picture on a wedding blog awhile ago, I wish I knew which one. All the cakes look so delicious, and gorgeous on their beautiful cake stands. So today I'm attempting to make the yummy devil's food cake I saw on the Martha show yesterday. It's cooling right now so I'm planning on having pictures to post tomorrow.

BOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy official Halloween!
For awhile now I have been saving images that I find interesting from the internet, so I have decided to start posting them and share with you the things I find pretty, colorful, crazy, original, and just plain fun. In honor of us almost having a first home of our own, here are some pictures of Gwyneth Paltrow's Hampton home. I love the fresh, clean look. I don't know if I could actually live here but it sure does look nice.

I would love to have a kitchen like this, but with a little more color. The chandelier is amazing. I have some plans for some not-yet-purchased chandeliers of my own.

The print and patterns are so visually appealing. The crown is very Queen of Hearts, or London whichever you prefer.

Happy Halloween........

Well almost. We went to a party Sunday night, this is me as a nerd or as some people like to say as myself. I'll take that as a compliment, thank you. We had so much fun, our friend who had the party went all out on the decor. His whole house was a big spooky cave with scary spiders and skeletons around every corner. Everyone really did a good job with their costumes, I almost won for the funniest but was beat out by a keg, well someone dresses as one anyway.
In other fun and exciting news, we just found out this morning that our offer on a condo was accepted so it looks like we will be having Christmas in our very own place. NO more looking and wondering and hoping, it's finally here. I'm just so excited, all the years I've been thinking and wanting a place of my own now it's really happening!
I thought I would share this hilarious picture from Thursday night. It was my friend Amanda's birthday in the middle and we went to a female impersonation show at Darcels in downtown Portland. It was so funny, all thesse big men dressed as women would come out and sing songs, or rather lip sync to them. Darcel who is on my left did all the comedy. It was fun to hang out with the girls and I mean ALL the girls, I couldn't stop laughing the whole time. We were seated at the very front just inches from the stage so to say the least we got a lot of the guys I mean girls attention.

Has it been 4 years already?

Wow how time flies. We just got back from the Edgefield where we got to celebrate 4 wondrous years. It was so nice to get a little ways out of town and we had never stayed there before so it was really fun. It's awesome in the Fall all the trees were so pretty in all the different colors. This is were we'll be staying after the wedding. After we checked in we headed to the bar at the bottom of the Hotel where they have pool tables and darts and all the good bar type stuff. Scott tried to teach me how to play pool, but I think he was getting frustrated because I totally stink at that game. We moved on to shuffleboard because it's even playing fields, I won of course. (No Scott didn't let me, but that's what he says)We then had a nice romantic dinner at the Black Rabbit restaurant, and it was so yummy we couldn't stop eating. I can't wait to go back and stay again. Now that Scott works for McMenamins we get a discount, yeah!
The House hunting is coming along slowly. We found an awesome townhouse we really liked but they didn't accept the loan we're using so I guess it wasn't meant to be. Hopefully we'll find and even better one soon.

Happy October!

Wow, where did Summer go? I can't believe it's Fall already! I feel I had no warning, no time to ease into the new season. One day it was a hot, perfectly blue sky no cloud day, then the next POW it was Falls here and Summers gone for another year so-how-do-you-like-that? I'm kinda glad it's Fall though, now I have an excuse to go buy some warm weather clothes and a new winter coat (I'm thinking red, that sounds like a good winter coat color).
I found the picture or rather the 1970's ad in last months Portland Monthly magazine and just loved it. First of all it's my favorite color so right off that caught my eye and secondly I loved the simply graphicness (if that's even a word) of the design. The issue was all about "How we lived everyday life from 1869-1980" it was really interesting to see what was really going on more than 100 years ago and how it has transformed into the Portland today.

After a 50 year hiatus the Portland streetcar is back, and the color is great. 135 years ago the first horse-drawn trolley appeared in 1st Ave. and now it's coming over to the SE. Right down the street from us theres tracks being built for the streetcars to come to my part of town. I can't wait, soon we'll be able to jump on and ride downtown or other hard to find parking areas without the hassle of driving.

My very first project.................

........that I have every done on my own, on the sewing machine. Isn't it great, I'm so proud. My mother use to teach a kids sewing class when we were younger, so I have sewn some shorts, a pillow, a simple drawstring bag, but nothing like this. This sewing machine is one of the machines we used in the class. It's been sitting in a storage room at my dads for years. When I mentioned I was saving my money for one he told me he had this old one just sitting around. I was so excited, it even looks cool with it's vintage style and color. I finally went and picked up some fabric yesterday, and whipped up a pattern for this purse I saw at a store awhile ago. I tried to find a pattern but couldn't find the perfect one, so I just drew the shape I thought would work, made it a little bigger on top to accommodate the pleating and blindly jumped in. The sewing isn't very neat, and the stitches are showing right below the bias tape because I stitched to low, but it was a good first try and learning process. I had a little trouble threading the machine, the pictures in the manual were a little confusing, but after I finally got it working it didn't take long at all. I can't wait for the next project.
These shoes were also something I picked up yesterday. They were a steal at TJ Maxx. I love Nine West shoes, and the price was so good I couldn't pass them up.

In this months Blueprint there is an awesome article about transforming thrift store finds. I loved the look of these old frames hung without any pictures in them. I picked up a few at the Goodwill yesterday and I was thinking of hanging them above the bed like a headboard. I'm not sure what color to paint them yet, but I got some good ones.
I like this one the best, it's going to look really great once it's painted a not-so-classic color.

What a crazy month!

Wow, what a month we've had. Our friends from San Diego came for a visit and it was on. First we went to the Oregon Coast which was absolutely gorgeous, I love it there. We picked up some crab and some clams at this place and had a feast!

That night we all went to the beach, which was only across the street from where we were staying. It was such a beautiful night and the tide was so far out we thought if we walked out to the edge of the water a shark might swoop up and get us. I have never seen the tide out so far ever, on any beach.

Later that week we made a trip to Multnomah Falls and went on a huge hike that was probably about 10 miles (my legs were killing me the next day).

I think we saw about 15 water falls. The water was so cold, we kept filling up our water bottles so we could drink it and stay cool.
There have also been so many Birthdays this month it seems at least 2-3 a week so it's been one big Celebration around here.
I hope soon to get a bike and go riding all over town. Scott got one for his birthday which was, you guessed it, August. He's been waiting for me so once that happens we'll off like the wind. I just hope it's before the rain.

If we lived in Springfield..........

this is what Scott and I would look like. Pretty cute huh? Scott made this awhile ago and I thought I would share it. He even has all the tattoos on his arm.
Some friends of ours are visiting from San Diego and we're going to the beach tomorrow. We'll be hitting up Cannon beach, Seaside, and the Tillamook Cheese Factory (can't wait for some cheese curds). We haven't been to the beach since we moved here, should be some good times.

we have a date............Finally!

July 14, 2008 is now our official wedding date. I know it took us long enough, but it's decided. We even have a honeymoon 85% figured out. We're thinking about England. It's called a driver's honeymoon where we get to visit London, Scotland, Edinburgh, and so many more places I've always wanted to see. You stay in lots of really cute hotels and just tour around for a week or two. I have never been out of the Country besides Mexico so I'm super excited. Now I need to start looking for a dress. I do really want this one that I posted about awhile ago but I just can't seem to find it. I've heard about having someone make it for you but that it can be almost as expensive. So I'm just going to go out and look for a similar 5o's style pink dress and embellish it, or maybe my mom and I can, make it together (hint...hint mom). Anyways we have done a lot these past 2 weeks I know what we're having for favors, food, decorations, and colors. I'm feeling pretty good about everything, now I just need save more money, man weddings are so expensive, who knew.
